Registered human smuggling cases fell to 4% in 9 years

Registered human smuggling cases fell to the 4% of the 2002 data until 2011, Police said in their response to our FOIA request. While the Police registered 3607 cases in 2002 this number shrank to 153 by 2011, excluding the cases which belong to the Prosecutor’s Office and the Tax and Customs Authorities. Our graph also shows that there is a small difference between the initiated cases and the ones that end up in finding the suspect guilty.
