Taxpayer’s money poured into government-leaning sports club
State-owned Szerencsejáték Zrt, the largest gaming service provider in Hungary, donated 250 million Hungarian forints (ca. 883 386 Euros) to the sports club Ferencvárosi TC in August, 2012. State-owned HungaroControl Hungarian Air Navigation Services Ltd. donated 50 milllion forints this year. The chairman of Ferencvárosi TC is Gábor Kubatov, the party director of the governing Fidesz. Recently, a property located at Üllői road, Budapest, belonging to the Ferencvárosi TC has become state property again; the Hungarian state paid five billion Hungarian forints (ca. 17.6 million Euros) for it. In addition to this, there are plans to build a new stadium on a budget of 10 billion Hungarian forints (ca. 35.3 million Euros).
