Counterterrorism Center sued us unsuccessfully
Counterterrorism Center sued us for correction after we published an article which discussed their highly overpriced presence in last summer’s flood protection. They also filed criminal charges against atlatszo.hu journalist András Becker over his articles, in which he discussed the differences of TEK’s expenses published by themselves and other official sources. The hearing in the latter case is due in the next weeks. In their court applications TEK argues that criticising the police organisation “may ruin the trust of the society in state powers”, but Budapest Tribunal Court’s first degree verdict turned down TEKs request, arguing that in a democracy a press outlet may freely discuss the responsibility of state authorities in transparency and accountability.
