Self-appointed ’apostolic governor’ arrested, jailed and hospitalised over defamation charges
József Borbély, ex-factory owner, anti-corruption activist and lawsuit-recorder against state institutions was imprisoned and forced to take part in a psychiatric attendance after the court hearing of a libel case in December 2012. His incarceration and treatment raises several legal and human rights questions and lasted for about a month in prison and mental hospital. Borbely, who accused many public officials of corruption and claimes to be Hungary’s “apostolic governor” was released in worse physical conditions in January 2012.
