Legally binding verdict ends MTVA lawsuit

In its early June verdict, Budapest-Capital Regional Court of Appeal bound Media Service Support and Asset Management Fund (MTVA) to disclose their contracts and other documents with Prestige Media Ltd. We requested the documents last year in order to learn about the consultancy work of the company led by Attila Várhegyi, former party director of Fidesz and ex-mayor of Szolnok. MTVA rejected our request, so we sued them. After many hearings forced by the ridicilous reasoning of the respondent, Budapest Metropolitan Court’s first degree verdict said the documents are in public interest. MTVA turned to the second appeal court, but they lost the case again.
