EU funds can’t sustain the eco-village in Galgahévíz

A few miles away from the centre of Galgahévíz, a town in Pest county, on a picturesque hill lies an eco-village founded by Mr. Géza Varga, a member of Parliament for the far right Jobbik Party. The project which was launched as a social experiment promoting self-sustaining, natural communities that accept diversity, received tens of millions of Hungarian forints worth of grants from the Hungarian state and the European Union. But according to the local people, the place isn’t environmentally-friendly, nor is it a village; in addition to this, only Mr. Varga and his relatives are profiting from the EU funded project.
