Ministries instructed employees to obstruct FOIA requests
1
Atlatszo.hu launched Hungary’s first freedom of information request service on 29th May and quickly gained the attention of government institutions. Unidentified sources informed us that ministry employees responsible for answering freedom of information requests were instructed how not to give a proper answer to the questions sent via our KiMitTud website. According to the freedom of information law institutions are obliged to answer a request in 15 days, but as our sources told us employees were asked to deny it in reference to unclear wording. If this is not possible they are supposed to give as short and less informative responses as possible, sources said.
